Our story…
It was 2009 when Kim and Clare met at a friend’s barbeque and discovered they had some things in common, namely a great set of skills between them, and experience of working in the City. Clare had left her job to spend time with her children, and Kim had left due to redundancy. After chatting for a while the two mumtrepreneurs decided they could build a business to help people that didn’t have time to do their admin and bookkeeping.
Your Virtual Office Ltd was born.
YVO started out in a 3 metre x 3 metre matchbox office with a phone line and a broadband hub – meeting in the evenings to work on the business, ordering business cards and making a website. During this time, Kim attended networking events run by 4N, to connect with other businesses, but it soon became clear that they needed to take a leap of faith and commit to the company full time.
The Networking Magic
4N is a room full of wisdom and knowledge! Kim met some very friendly people who gave her lots of tips and advice to help Your Virtual Office, but it wasn’t until she had 1-2-1 with Paul from Essex Social Media that things really took a turn. Paul advised her if they want to succeed with YVO, they would need to take that leap of faith! It was time for Kim and Clare to dedicate 100% to the business and for it to grow and become a full functioning business.

The 4N meetings played a big part in Your Virtual Office’s success. They found reliable businesses to help them with their Voip phones and IT, and soon took on new clients to bring in more business. Any business looking to succeed should attend networking events. Connecting with other professionals can be a great opportunity to get advice about your own business, but it also creates an opportunity to connect with likeminded people that you could end up doing business with.
YVO Expands
Since then YVO has come on in leaps and bounds. They have moved to a larger office, taken on two bookkeepers and an administrator. They have also taken on three Apprentices, two of which have completed their NVQ, and one has now completed all of her Bookkeeping exams! They also now have a large client list, which is growing more and more every day!
How has this been possible? It is because Clare and Kim had an idea that was worth doing based on the fact that for many businesses “Outsourcing is a solution, not a cost”, and they found the support they needed to make it work.
